NEW YEAR, NEW FEED? — Following heavy scrutiny of how Facebook handles content such as fake news, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company is recalibrating how the site prioritizes information for users. The aim is promoting posts on the news feed to help people have “more meaningful social interactions,” versus “passive” experiences. “We feel a responsibility to make sure our services aren’t just fun to use, but also good for people’s well-being,” Zuckerberg said, acknowledging the impact the social network can have on users and saying he’s dedicated to improving the experience even if engagement declines.
